Foam pad because of simplicity and quickness to roll up / unroll. The foam pad was warm enough for this “race” environment to allow for a good 3–5 hours of sleep each night. Air mattress would have been time consuming to blow up / deflate…especially at higher altitudes. There was a few nights I slept between 10,000–12,000 ft.
